Current Week's Sermon
Title: Win Anyway
Scripture: Luke 8:43-48
As we celebrated the 76th Anniversary of First Baptist Church of Bunche Park, our hearts were lifted by a powerful word from Rev. Dr. Carolyn Ann Knight. Drawing from Luke 8:43-48, she reminded us that even when life has drained us, faith still gives us the courage to reach for Jesus. The woman in the text had endured years of suffering, yet she pressed through the crowd with a determination shaped by desperation and hope. Her story teaches us that God meets us in the places where we feel weakest and restores what life has taken.
Dr. Knight challenged us to consider the quiet battles we fight — the ones we cannot win by strength alone. Some wounds linger because we continue bleeding for people who keep cutting us. Some struggles persist because we try to fight them in our own power. But prayer becomes our strategy, our shield, and our pathway to victory. As we honor 76 years of worship, work, and witness, we are reminded that the same God who carried this church through every season is still healing, still restoring, and still calling us to reach for Him.
